Coach Drew is a native of Sarasota, FL where he was a member of a 3-time state champion high school program. He is a rising senior swimmer for ODU and was previously an Associate Head Coach for the Norfolk Yacht & CC Sea Dragons. He is excited to join Team Barracuda this summer and looks forward to meeting all swimmers and parents.
Sam is a high school math teacher at StoneBridge School and is excited to return for his third year as an assistant coach for Team Barracuda. A former Barracuda swimmer himself, Sam has been swimming for over 15 years and values creating a positive and encouraging environment for swimmers of all skill levels. He enjoys helping athletes build confidence, improve their skills, and have fun while being part of the team. Outside of swimming, Sam enjoys soccer, art projects, and mathematics.
Preston is a rising senior at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy where he holds several school records and was a state finalist and conference champion in the 100Y Freestyle for the 2025/2026 season. Preston is very passionate about swimming and improving his teammates technique and stroke. He has been swimming club for East Coast Aquatic Team (ECAT) for two years and has qualified for meets up and down the East Coast. Preston is also a lifeguard at the Riverfront Swim Club and is swim instructor certified. He is very excited to help coach Team Barracuda this season, where he will also compete in the 15-18 age group and hopes to break some WTSA records!
Let’s welcome Coach Abby Crystal! Many of you already know Abby from lifeguarding at Riverfront Swim Club for the last 4 years, teaching swim lessons for the last two years, and swimming for Team Barracuda. As a recent graduate of Nansemond Suffolk Academy where she was a 4 time State Qualifying swimmer, she’s looking forward to coaching this season. She will be off to Virginia Tech in August to study Construction Engineering, but will continue to lifeguard and team swim lessons, in addition to coaching for Team Barracuda.
